2.3.1   About Addresses

You need to know the addresses of your Project Node and SCADA node.  In order to create a project that you can download.

o        URL is the Universal Resource Locator, for example http://www.Advantech.com/ . If your company has assigned a URL to your Advantech WebAccess/SCADA Project, enter this in the Address Bar of Internet Explorer. URL also can have similar forms, for example the Advantech WebAccess/SCADA Live Demo project node can be reached at http://www.advantech.com.cn/eAutomation/WebAccess/index.asp/

o        IP Address, Internet Protocol Address. The IP address is a series of 4 numbers separated by periods (e.g. http://67.94.27.175/).

o        Computer Name - If you are on an Intranet, or a standalone PC, you can enter the computer name of the Advantech WebAccess/SCADA Project Node (for example "Server1"). This can be either a TCP/IP "host name" or the Microsoft Network name.

o        Local PC - If you are on a PC that has the Project Node software installed and a network card, you can use the default localhost address or url:
http://localhost

or
http://127.0.0.1

If you are on a standalone PC without a network card, you must use the computer name: (for example "http://Node1").

·         HOST name.  This is a name in the HOSTS file on your PC.  This might be used to allow users from outside an Intranet to use a Public IP Address and local users on the intranet to use a private IP Address.  See Hosts Files in section 8.7.2.3, for more information about HOST name and HOSTS file.

Note – Using a Host File ,then  distributing that host file to legitimate users, can isolate your Advantech WebAccess/SCADA System to other unauthorized user who do not have the Host File.  The Addresses in Advantech WebAccess/SCADA are useless to any user without the Host file even if they guess a password.
